Farewell and Thank You
After over 35 wonderful years at AAA Minneapolis, I am retiring to spend more time with my family. I have been so blessed to work for this amazing organization that is deeply committed to helping our community. I have developed wonderful relationships with members, customers and colleagues, and I look forward to continuing those relationships in the future.
Over the past months, I have reflected on how the organization has changed since I started in early 1986. We’ve grown significantly, adding more members, more employees, plus new and enhanced services to meet the changing needs of our members in the community. Technology has changed the way we do business in almost every facet of the organization. When I started as an international travel agent, we spent much of our day on the phone with airlines, handwriting tickets and researching travel for members. Today, those tasks are accomplished with a click of a button! I also recall watching employees in our roadside service call center constantly consult with an oversized Minneapolis wall map to pinpoint the location of a stranded motorist, so we could dispatch a tow truck.
I’ve experienced many changes during my tenure, but the memories that bring a fond smile to my face are interactions with members. Over the years, I’ve heard so many people share how much they appreciate the service and support we provide. AAA has helped so many people, be it with roadside assistance, travel planning, insurance, or other services. Indeed, AAA is there, wherever life may take you.
It has been an honor to serve the organization, community and our members and customers. I am proud to be a AAA member, and I look forward to being a member for many years to come. Perhaps I will see you at a driving program class, travel event, or on an upcoming AAA-sponsored trip, all on my retirement bucket list.
Thank you for allowing me to lead our organization.
Wendy A. Weigel
President & CEO, AAA Minneapolis
During the last 12 months, AAA delivered over 32 million roadside calls. Although our roadside assistance is the most important reason why people join AAA, it certainly is not the only reason.
Along with our 115 - year legacy as the leader in automotive services, one of our missions is to “shape the future of mobility by advocating safe, sustainable and equitable solutions in our community. ”All of AAA associations along, with our automotive research and advocacy teams based in Washington, D.C., are actively participating with automotive manufacturers and numerous industry players to shape the future of mobility.
We are excited to announce that AAA Minneapolis is launching unique and customized group travel offerings that are only available to members.
With the holidays behind us and spring around the corner, there is a lot to look forward to.
