Hosting for the Holidays

The holiday season is coming and so is an increase in alcohol-related crashes and DWIs. “It only takes one moment, one poor choice, to shatter a life forever,” said Donna Berger, director of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety.

“After just one drink, your inhibitions are lowered and your judgment is affected. Be a responsible party host by offering festive, non-alcoholic drinks and help ensure your guests have a safe and sober ride home,” said Chris Claeson, manager of Driving Programs at AAA Minneapolis.

AAA Minneapolis wants to help decrease the number of DWIs and crashes by putting together Zero Proof, our series of mocktail recipes to make and share at your holiday gatherings.

Zero Proof Recipe: Eple of Idunn

  • 1 ounce ginger syrup
  • 1 ounce cider syrup
  • 3/4 ounce lemon juice
  • 4 ounces seltzer
  • 2 dashes Bittercube Jamaican #2 bitters

Mix all the ingredients. Pour mixture into an 8-ounce glass. Add an apple fan, a lemon rose and a cinnamon stick for garnish. This drink is best served cold, so refrigerate ingredients beforehand.
