Our battery recycling programs are designed to maximize collection rates of used automotive batteries in every market we serve. We proudly recycle over 98% of each used battery we collect.

As a direct result of battery replacement and recycling services provided by AAA throughout the United States, we have helped to:

  • Keep over 200 million pounds of lead and 20 million pounds of plastic out of landfills
  • Reclaim lead, plastic, and acid for reuse in the production of new batteries
  • Encourage motorists throughout North America to recycle their auto and marine batteries

Using an EPA-approved recycling center, we recycle every lead battery we replace. Our primary battery manufacturer, East Penn Canada and East Penn Manufacturing in Pennsylvania are dedicated to environmental health and safety. For over 75 years they have contributed to the environmental stewardship of our planet through green initiatives and their state-of-the-art recycling facilities, using the most advanced technology available to reduce lead emissions into the air, wastewater, and storm water. 

 

The AAA Mobile Battery Service Program

AAA is dedicated to protecting our environment and ensuring great road trips for generations to come. A lead car battery usually lasts for three to six years, depending on a variety of factors. Extreme heat or cold; harsh wear and tear; short, infrequent drives; and age, all affect the lifespan of your battery. When the time comes to replace it, a AAA Battery Service Technician comes to you – at work, at home, almost anywhere – to deliver and install it onsite. Plus, in keeping with our commitment to greater sustainability for the planet, AAA Technicians will also safely recycle your old battery.
