Our Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy outlines how AAA Minneapolis ( “AAA Minneapolis,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) acquires, uses and protects data collected from (a) our website (“Site”); (b) our mobile app (“Application”), (c) when you contact us or visit a branch office, (d) through normal business activities that we conduct with members, non-members, and customers, and (e) when you purchase any of our products and services (subsections (a)-(e) collectively referred to herein as the “Services”). We and/or our licensors own, operate, and maintain the Site and Application. Your privacy is important to us, and we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the Privacy Policy and elements contained herein.
OUR SERVICES ARE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNATED FOR CONSUMERS LOCATED IN MINNESOTA. BY USING OUR SERVICES AND/OR CREATING A RELATED USER ACCOUNT, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THIS PRIVACY POLICY AND ANY RELATED TERMS AND CONDITIONS. YOUR CONTINUED USE OF OUR SERVICES INDICATES THAT YOU HAVE READ, UNDERSTAND, AND AGREE TO THE SAME. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO BE SO BOUND, DO NOT VISIT OR LOG IN TO OUR SERVICES.
We comply with all applicable laws. Please note, a separate or additional privacy notice may apply to information collected through other means and via other AAA Minneapolis services such as insurance. Please consult those notices as needed.

Categories of Information We Collect
We primarily have access to and/or collect information that you voluntarily provide us as is necessary for providing our Services, maintaining your user account, and when you directly contact us. For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “Personal Data” includes all personal information that is specific to you which meets the definition of applicable data protection laws as “personal information,” “personal data,” or “personally identifiable information” (e.g., name, address, phone number, email address, etc.). When you use our Services, we may collect and use the following type of information:

- Internet and Other Network Activity
- Other information that may be associated with you as described below
How We Collect your Information
- Information You Provide to Us: We collect information that you provide to us when you use our Services and when you contact us through the contact form on our Site or through the Application. We also collect your Personal Data when you contact us via email or phone or submit a product review or complete a voluntary survey. This may include your name, address, email, home phone number, mobile phone number, birthday, age, product reviews, survey responses, or similar information about your spouse, partner, or children.
- When you Purchase our Products and Services:
- Registration Information: When you access our Services, we will require you to register to receive our services and products. To register you may need to provide your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, address, and member information. In addition, to register, you must create a user account, which requires you to specify a username and password.
- Membership Information: We collect information related to your membership, including without limitation, name, gender, contact information, membership number, effective and expiration date of membership, sponsor, membership status, card request history, first name, middle initial and last name for primary and all associate members, associate relationship to primary members, gender, date of birth and age, home, billing, and temporary address, phone numbers and email addresses for all members listed on a membership, and payment history.
- Travel Agent Services: If you request a quote or purchase travel products or services, we may collect your name, address, phone number, date of birth, and passport number.
- Emergency Roadside Assistance: If you request Emergency Roadside Assistance, we may collect your name, phone number, location, identification such as driver’s license, and vehicle information.
- AAA Minneapolis Approved Auto Repair: We may collect your name, contact information, membership number, and vehicle information.
- Financial/Credit Card Services: If you apply for a AAA Visa Signature Credit Card, you will provide your personal data directly to our partner, Bread Financial, and Bread Financial’s privacy policy governs its use of Personal Data. We don’t otherwise share your information with the provider directly in this circumstance.
- Driving School: For AAA Minneapolis’ driving school, we may collect the name of the driver (such as your teen driver), date of birth of driver, and contact information, including emergency contact information. Geolocation: The Application collects precise information about the location of your device. We use your location to provide requested roadside service and for location services such as displaying the closest branch office. You may at any time opt out from allowing us to access your location data by managing your preferences on your device’s settings and choosing when to share location information through the Application.
- Sensory Information: Where permitted by law, we may collect and maintain records of calls, including audio recordings call date, call time, call duration and call transcript, if you call our customer service line. Please note, we do not digitally analyze any data for any biometric identification purposes.
- Internet or Other Network Activity: We may automatically collect the following information about your use of the Site and Application through cookies, web beacons, log files, and other technologies: domain name; browser type and operating system; pages viewed, links clicked and other activities on the Site and Application; IP address; the length of time using our Site and Application; access time; device ID or other identifier; location and language information. We may combine this information with other information that we have collected, including where applicable, Personal Data. The following non-volunteered information may also be compiled when visiting the Site: The referrer (the site prior to entering the Site), the IP address of the workstation, date, and time logged of visit, pages visited while on our Site, time spent on each page, and files downloaded. We also gather information that is voluntarily submitted via search criteria, entered on forms or surveys, and transactional data from purchases. If the user supplies their telephone number or email online, they may be contacted by AAA Minneapolis regarding orders or questions placed online. Please see the “Cookies and Other Tracking Mechanisms” section below for more information.
- Information Received from Third Parties: We may receive Personal Data from third-parties as it relates to the products and services we provide to you. This may include data acquired when a member transfers to our club or requests services outside of Hennepin County, or from a preferred travel partner with whom you’ve booked a trip.
- Billing/Payment Information: Although we may collect payments for use of our Services, we do not collect or store credit card or bank information. We use a third party payment processor, who collects your credit card, debit card, and billing information directly from you, which is subject to the third party payment processor’s privacy policy.
Cookies and Other Tracking Mechanisms
- Do Not Track: Currently, our systems do not recognize browser “do-not-track” requests. You may, however, disable certain tracking as discussed in this section (e.g., by disabling cookies), and opting out of certain ad networks.
- Cookies: To provide you with the best online experience, we capture your IP address and use cookies to collect information about your browsing behavior on our Site and Application. This information is aggregated with other visitor data so we can analyze how people use our Site and Application. For example, we may use data to determine which pages are viewed most frequently, how long users spend on the Site and Application, and if previous users have returned to our Site or Application. A persistent cookie allows us to capture and link to other information you have provided us online once you choose to identify yourself. You may disable cookies by following instructions on your browser. Please note, certain features of the Site and Application may not function if you disable cookies.
- Third Party Cookies: Further, certain third parties may deliver cookies for the purpose of tracking your online behaviors with nonaffiliated websites and delivering targeted advertisements either on our Site or Application, or on other websites. For example, we may use a third-party cookie from Google Analytics or Google Ads for remarketing, demographics and interest reporting, Google Display Network (GDN) impression reporting, and segmentation. - Clear GIFs, Pixel Tags, and Other Technologies: Clear GIFs are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on your computers or mobile device’s hard drive, clear GIFs are embedded invisibly on web pages. We may use clear GIFs (a.k.a. web beacons, web bugs or pixel tags) in connection with the Site and Application to, among other things, track activities on the Site and Application, help us manage content, and compile statistics about usage of the Site and Application. We also use clear GIFs in HTML emails to help us track email response rates, identify when our emails are viewed, and track whether our emails are forwarded.
- Analytics Information: We may use various technologies to learn more about how visitors use our Site and Application and to collect information about your interaction with our features and other users for analytics purposes. We may also use analytics services and technologies to monitor your activities on the Site and Application, for better understanding of how our Site and Application are used, and ways to improve it.
How We Use the Information We Collect
The information we collect allows us to:
- manage and administer your user account;
- establish your user account and authenticate you during registration or login to our Site or Application;
- provide our Services, including the functionality of our Site and Application to you;
- better understand your needs;
- provide a more personalized experience;
- process transactions and payments;

Our Site and Application contain links to websites operated by third parties. If you use a link provided on our Site or Application to visit a third-party website, you will no longer receive protections covered in this Privacy Policy. Your Rights
You may have the following legal rights depending on where you live:
- Right to Confirm: You have the right to confirm whether we are processing Personal Data concerning you and access the categories of such Personal Data.
- Right to Correct: If you believe that any of the Personal Data we hold about you is incorrect or out of date, you have the right to correct such Personal Data by providing us with the correct, up-to-date Personal Data.
- Right to Delete: You can ask us to delete your Personal Data. Please note that even if a request is made to delete your Personal Data, we may be permitted or required to retain a copy for our business and legal obligations as permitted or required under applicable law.
- Right to Portability: You have the right to request a copy of your Personal Data in a portable and (to the extent technically feasible) readily usable format that allows you to transmit the data to a third party.
- Right to List of Third Parties: You have the right to obtain a list of the specific third parties to which we have disclosed your Personal Data.
- Right to Question the Result of Profiling: To the extent we use Personal Data to profile consumers, you have the right to question profiling and automated decisions that affect you. Please note, we do not use Personal Data for profiling in furtherance of decision that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Please Note: We do not sell Personal Data or use Personal Data for targeted advertising or profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects, which is why we do not have an opt-out link for the same.
Please contact us (as specified below) to request any of the above rights. You will be required to verify your identity before we are able to fulfill your request. Upon confirmation that you are making a lawful request, we will confirm our obligations under applicable law. You can also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf. To do so, you must provide us with written authorization or a power of attorney, signed by you, for the agent to act on your behalf. You will still need to verify your identity directly with us. We will acknowledge your request and respond to your request (upon verification) within 45 days of receipt of the request, provided we may extend such response period by an additional 45 days by informing you of such extension. You also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising certain of your rights referenced herein. You may have the right to appeal our action with regard to your request for any of the above rights by submitting an appeal request via the rights portal made available on aaa.com by selecting the ‘appeal’ option. Once an appeal request is received by AAA Minneapolis, we will review the request and communicate our appeal decision to you via email.

Marketing Choices
You may choose to opt-out of receiving marketing communications from us or change your marketing preferences. For email, you may unsubscribe by clicking the Unsubscribe button or Update Your Profile at the bottom of any AAA Minneapolis email. For print publications, you may opt-out by phone at 952-927-2604 or by email at membership@aaaminneapolis.com.
You may elect to receive text messages from us. When you sign up to receive text messages, we will send you information about promotional offers and more. These messages may use information automatically collected based on your actions while on our Site and may prompt messaging such as cart abandon messages (i.e., cookies). To the extent you voluntarily opt to have text notifications sent directly to your mobile phone, we receive and store the information you provide, including your telephone number or when you read a text message. You may opt out of receiving text messages at any time by texting “STOP” to our text messages. For more information about text messages, see our Terms and Conditions. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties, excluding aggregators and providers of the text message services.

If you elect not to receive marketing communications, you will continue to receive information from us about your membership and other business transactions. To make changes to your Personal Data, we may be required to confirm your identity.
How We Protect Your Information
We understand the importance of protecting your Personal Data, and we value the trust you place in us. We maintain appropriate physical, administrative, and technical safeguards and related processes to protect your Personal Data. We limit access to your Personal Data to the authorized employees, agents, and certain of our authorized Third Party Providers who require it and as appropriate or necessary to provide our Services.
Unfortunately, no website, mobile device, server, or database is completely secure; therefore, we cannot guarantee that your Personal Data will not be disclosed, misused, lost, or secured by unauthorized means. We ask that you assist in maintaining the safety and security of our Services through appropriate selection and maintenance of strong passwords including both letters and numbers. We recommend that you safeguard your password. You are also responsible for taking reasonable steps to protect your Personal Data against unauthorized disclosure or misuse, including your liability for any access through your login credentials.
Whom We Share Personal Data With and the Categories of Personal Data we Share
We may share your Personal Data for the following business or commercial purpose with the types of third parties listed below (collectively, “Third Party Providers”):
- AAA Minneapolis Affiliated Sources. We may disclose your Personal Data to AAA Minneapolis related sources, including AAA Inc., other AAA motor clubs, and Emergency Roadside Service providers.
- For example, transactional information from a service request for an out of territory member would be shared with AAA Inc. and the member’s motor club.
- In addition, we may share your name and contact information, location, membership information, vehicle information and nature of your request with an independent Emergency Roadside Service provider.
- We may provide your name and contact information, membership information, vehicle information, and the nature of your request to an independent automative service provider.
- Service Providers: We may share your Personal Data with third parties that provide you and us with products or services.
- These third parties may include companies whose purpose is to support our marketing or membership activities and trusted partners who provide travel, insurance, financial, or other services to you. These companies are contractually obligated to keep the information that we provide to them confidential, and they use the information only to provide the services we’ve asked them to perform for you and us.
- Your Personal Data may also be provided to certain third party service providers as necessary to provide our Services. Such third party service providers may include software development, application and data hosting, wireless network service providers, payment processors, and any digital marketing services. We are responsible for ensuring that these Service Providers comply with the terms of this Privacy Policy.
- Business Partners: We may share your Personal Data with certain of our business partners to support our business and who are under contract with us. We are responsible for ensuring that these business partners comply with the terms of this Privacy Policy.
The categories of Personal Data that we may share with Third Party Providers include: (a) identifiers; (b) geolocation; (c) commercial information; (d) Internet and other network activity; and (d) other information that may be associated with you as described in this Privacy Policy.
Disclosing Information in Other Situations
Except for our Third Party Providers, we will not share Personal Data with an unaffiliated third party without your prior authorization, unless doing so: (1) is required by law, including those in connection with a subpoena, court order, search warrant, fraud investigation, or related legal process; (2) to enforce this Privacy Policy, to comply with law, regulation, or other legal processes or to protect the rights, property, or safety of us or others; (3) to comply with a valid order or process from a public authority; (4) to protect against misuse or unauthorized use of our Services; (5) to detect or prevent criminal activity or fraud; or (6) in the event that we or substantially all of our assets are acquired by one or more third parties as a result of an acquisition, merger, sale, reorganization, consolidation, or liquidation, in which case such information may be one of the transferred assets.
Data Retention
We keep your Personal Data as long as needed to process your requests, to operate our business, or provide our Services, and as long as we are legally obligated to keep it. You have the right to ask us to delete your Personal Data at any time. Please note that deleting your Personal Data may affect your right to use our Services. While we will use reasonable efforts to delete your Personal Data, we may be required to retain such Personal Data as required by our systems or our legal requirements. Until we have deleted all of your Personal Data, we will continue to honor our privacy and security obligations related to your Personal Data.
Please note that in the event that we elect to de-identify your Personal Data, such de-identified information is no longer your Personal Data, and we may use such de-identified information, alone or in an aggregated basis to analyze our Services, or as we deem appropriate.
Children’s Privacy
Our Services are not designed for persons under the age of 18. In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, 15 U.S.C. § 6501.06 and 16 C.F.R. §§ 312.1 – 312.12, we do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 13, nor do our website(s), applications, or products target children under the age of 13. By using our Services, you represent that you are not younger than 13. Please contact us if you know or suspect that we have collected information from children under the age of 13, and we will take prompt measures to remove such information.
Changes to This Policy
The most recent version of the Privacy Policy will be posted on our Site and include the effective date. If we make material changes to the Privacy Policy (such as how we access, use, or share your Personal Data), we will inform those affected electronically or with a notice within our Site and Application stating our Privacy Policy has been updated. If we make any material change to this Privacy Policy, we will provide users with a reasonable opportunity to withdraw consent to any further materially different collection, processing, or transfer of previously collected Personal Data under the changed policy.
